Front Up is offering a FREE Discover program within Western Sydney, Seven Hills. This is a 9 week program led by Western Sydney artist George Tillianakis and Front Up assisting artist Rosalind Stanley. Discover aims to facilitate inspiring artists to explore various art practices.

Who are we looking for?

Creative people aged 12 - 24, with disability or the experience of mental health concerns who are interested in developing their current skills sets and engaging with professional artists and educators to work towards furthering their current education and future employment opportunities.

What will you be doing in the program?

By taking part in the Discover program you will have the opportunity to explore various art practices, work on your skill set within a professional arts environment, whilst focusing on building self-confidence as an artist.

You will visit the Art Gallery of New South Wales and respond to the William Kentridge exhibition entitled - that which we do not remember.   You will also visit Artspace in Woolloomooloo where you will meet with one of the resident artists.  At the Front Up Hub in Seven Hills, you will work alongside professional artists to create your art to be exhibited for International Day of People with Disability on the 3rd of December.

Discover will have a final exhibition, where participants will present their works created in the Discover Program to the community, family and friends at the Front Up Hub

During the Discover workshops, participants will be mentored to create mixed media works.

You  will workshop ideas and concepts - around the William Kentridge exhibition entitled - that which we do not remember.

  • Develop story and visual boards.
  • Gain valuable information and insight on different art practices.
  • Gain a deeper understanding on professional development within the arts.
  • Discover AGNSW and Artspace exhibitions, staff educators and best creative practices.
  • Build on your teamwork skills.
  • Build on self-esteem and confidence.
  • Open up networking, employment and education opportunities

Discover runs for 9 workshops and includes a final community outcome. Workshops commence from 3:45pm  to 6pm Starts Wednesday 3rd October to  28th November.

DROP OFF PARKING AND ACCESSIBLE PARKING at the back entrance in Bassel Lane OR Park in Rowley street and enter via the Ability Options office and take the lift up to the 1st floor.
